Starting a break
- Select your name in the Time Clock App
- Enter your PIN
- Choose your break type:
- Rest Break
- Meal Break
Ending a break
- Select your name
- Enter your PIN
The system will automatically end your break and return you to your shift.
Break duration guidelines (Based on Employment New Zealand rules)

- For shifts between 2-4 hours:
- One 10-minute paid rest break
- For shifts between 4-6 hours:
- One 10-minute paid rest break
- One 30-minute unpaid meal break
- For shifts between 6-8 hours:
- Two 10-minute paid rest breaks
- One 30-minute unpaid meal break
- For shifts over 8 hours:
- Two 10-minute paid rest breaks
- One 30-minute unpaid meal break
- Additional breaks may be negotiated for longer shifts
Pro tips
- Take your breaks at regular intervals throughout your shift to maintain productivity
- Don't skip your breaks - they're important for your wellbeing and are a legal requirement
- If you're unsure about when to take your break, discuss with your supervisor
- Remember to properly end your break to ensure accurate time tracking
